HAITI RELIEF EFFORTS

On January 12, our neighbors in Haiti were ravaged by a magnitude 7.0 earthquake that struck just outside the capital city of Port-au-Prince. Many lives were lost, and families have been displaced and devastated by this tragedy. Eight days later, as rescue workers and Haitians searched for victims trapped under rubbles, a forceful aftershock struck near Haiti's capitol.

Through generous support and donations from around the world, the relief effort has been steadily progressing as the people of Haiti seek to begin the healing process. However, the sub standard housing and building infrastructure that existed prior to the earthquake presents an overwhelming challenge to rebuild Haiti. FES Miami members can help meet this challenge by donating funds which will go directly towards the rebuilding efforts and provide basic necessities for so many that are still in need. We encourage all members to join us in this effort to rebuild Haiti by visiting the website of American Red Cross, UNICEF, and the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund.

FES Miami Board of Directors will be introducing new initiatives in the weeks ahead to continue the much needed help to rebuild Haiti and how our members can participate. Please keep our friends and families and the nation of Haiti in your prayers during this difficult time.
Sincerely,

Rudy M. Ortiz, P.E., President
