President's Message May 2012
PULL!!! The FES Miami Chapter First Annual Trap Shoot was a blast. We had a nice cross-section of the members participate in the event. Top Gun honors in the women’s division went to Brenda Westhorp, P.E., and Belinda Bacon, P.E. Esq. while Luis Medina, P.E. and Lin Li, P.E. were neck and neck for the top spot in the Men’s division. Check out the pictures HERE. A special thanks to Salvador Garcia P.E, from Megatran, for providing helpful trap instruction and loaning us his firearms for the event. The C3TS crew also stepped in to help with the organization and setup of the event. Overall the Trap Shoot was a success and we plan to make it a yearly event for the Chapter.
This month we will be hosting our 2012 Student Development and Scholarship Golf Tournament on Friday May 25th 2012 at the Miami Springs Country Club. Funds raised from this tournament help fund student scholarships and provide support to the student FES Chapters of Miami Dade College and Florida International University. Click here for more information and to register for the Golf Tournament. Calling all leaders! The FES Miami Chapter needs YOU. Five positions will be available for next year’s Board of Directors. Take your involvement to the next level and help shape the destiny of our chapter. The deadline to have your name included in the 2013 ballot is May 25th 2012. If you are up to the challenge, contact me at our next event or via email. Looking ahead, we are in the process of lining up a guest speaker from the Fort Lauderdale Airport for the June Luncheon to go over some the innovate techniques being used to expand the runways.
